I was recently made aware of the death of Lillian Cherry, who passed away in late November 2014. She was a versatile and very well liked support staff member on Kingston Campus for 20 years. She worked for six years in Educational Media, then in Switchboard /Information, Physical Plant, and finally five years in the college bookstore. Wherever Lillian went she always displayed the same very pleasant and courteous manner. She typified the best in customer service long before it became part of the college’s official mandate. It one of those strange coincidences that often occur, I learned of Lillian’s death only a few weeks after hearing about the loss of Jean (Potter) Pearson, who had died less than a year earlier, in December of 2013. Both Lillian and Jean retired around the same time in 1995 and they were two of the unsung heroes of the college whose departure prompted me to develop the Wall of Appreciation that opened in 1997. I would like to think that they have reconnected and are sitting on high reminiscing about the college and the colleagues who still remember them fondly.
