Peacefully, after living with cancer with strength, dignity and grace, on Sunday, November 20, 2005, at St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital, Palliative Care Unit. Beloved husband and soulmate for 30 years of Rita . Loving father of Laurie Castello (Jay) , Christine Clendening (Bob), Don Cameron(Lori) and predeceased by son Gordon Cameron.
Predeceased by his parents John Alexander and Agnes (Mateer) Bell. Dear brother of Douglas Bell (Maureen). Cherished Grandpa (Papa) of Melissa, Allison, John, Jessie, Mary, Ryan, Robert, James, Anna and Grace.
David Joined St. Lawrence College in 1970 as a Teaching Master in the Math & Science Department. He was active with both the college, as a member of the Classroom Committee and the Master Student initiative, and the community – with work for “Renew” and the United Way. Student evaluations praised him for being “a true teacher.”
David’s memories of St. Lawrence include meals and parties in the “Root Cellar Club,” teaching in Collins Bay Penitentiary, gatherings in the “Battleship Room,” walking the picket line during two strikes, and when parking at the college was free!
David is survived by his wife Rita and many other family members.
