Okay, David Schleich isn’t really a “young” man (anymore), and he did go west (following the long ago advice of American author Horace Greeley), where he settled in Portland, Oregon as President of the National College of Natural Medicine. But David did indeed go east this past winter, flying from his home base to Myrtle Beach to spend a weekend with members of the South Carolina branch of the SLC Retirees Association. They included Anne Breault, Brad Hill, Dick Tindal, and Jerry Zabel (and their spouses), as well as Kathy Lawton and Alice Welsh. The photo below shows David in the pool of the condo building that Jerry’s wife Narjis calls “the mother ship,” because it accommodates several of the College retirees each winter. He is with Brad Hill and Jack Breault and appears to be placing an order for one beer. |

We are told to learn new skills as a way of keeping our minds sharp as we age. If this is true, I'm going to be quite the brilliant old chap, given how much I am in the process of learning about setting up a website for the Retirees Association and then setting up a dedicated Facebook page as well - for those of our members who are already on Facebook and find it easier to follow us there. Since many others (we have been given to understand) aren't on Facebook - and don't intend to join - this Association website has been created as our primary Internet connection. While much younger than me, and therefore less in need of new skills to stimulate his mind, Vincent Durant has also been working on these new Internet initiatives and has been a great help.

InformationThis page is intended as a vehicle for retirees to provide stories about their activities, travels, travails, and just about anything that they want to share. Our Association members will be advised how to submit items for this page. Write to us at [email protected]. Something to smile about when you are confined to homeYou have to laugh or go crazy today so we are inviting members to post the funny things they have found and to comment on those we post.
