As a result of this exercise, we learned that:
Ron was the saxophone player in a rock ‘n roll band named The Groovers. [Definitely a better name than some of the alternatives we were offered, such as Ronnie and the Moondogs and Hot Ronnie and the Steam.]
Barb’s favourite sport growing up was figure skating (although I think that she is now a stock car racing fan).
Ron coached hockey to a varsity championship at SLC (not Greco-Roman wrestling).
Ron and Barb appeared as extras in the moving Towering Inferno.
We heard a very amusing story from Ron about their adventures on their wedding night – NO, not the kind you are thinking of, you naughty reader! They set out after the wedding for a drive that would ultimately take them to Lake Placid. Small town boy that he was (from Picton, don’t you know), it never occurred to the Groom to make a room reservation. All hotel rooms in Alex Bay, Watertown, and other areas were full – and a very late night drive ensued. [We can now understand why Ron was always very organized and planned things well ahead during his career as a College manager.]
