Some 30 members attended the annual general meeting of the SLC Retirees Association on May 17. Minutes (unofficial until approved) and membership and financial reports will be posted at this website in due time. However, the Association is healthy in members (a total of 113, up from 102 the previous year) and finances (a bank balance of just over $3,000). The executive members are largely intact, but Ruth Doran stepped down as Vice-President and has moved to our Shadow Cabinet. Nancy Sudak had offered to stand as V.P. and fought off vigorous competition from the floor to prevail. [Okay, I made up that part.]
A highlight of the AGM was viewing a DVD of the unveiling of the Wall of Appreciation at St. Lawrence which took place on May 14, 1997. There was lots of reaction as familiar faces appeared on the screen and much chuckling when some of those being recognized 20 years ago were in attendance at this AGM. A second highlight was distribution of copies of the Book of Memories featuring memorable characters and events from the first half century at SLC.
A few photos of the occasion are found below.
