Frances R. (Fran) Morris an original member of the SLC Retirees Association passed away on November 2nd, 2015 at the age of 97. She came to Canada with her parents at the age of three, and settled in Pakenham in the Ottawa Valley. After High School Fran entered the KGH School of Nursing from which she graduated in 1940 as the Silver Medalist of her class. In June 2015 Fran attended the 75th anniversary of her graduation.
For the first 20 years of her professional career Fran worked in the Kingston Military Hospital and as a private duty nurse in homes and at KGH. She then decided that the teaching of Nursing would meet her desire to help young aspiring nurses. She started this part of her career teaching nursing assistant students at KGH and then at the Kingston Psychiatric Hospital. In 1973, when the hospital schools of nursing in Ontario closed, Fran continued teaching in the Health Sciences Department at SLC. Fran retired in 1983. Upon her retirement the Department established the Frances R. Morris Award .
Love of life, dedication, loyalty, commitment, and enthusiasm ....all words that remind one of this remarkable woman.
Fran leaves behind her daughter Diane and son-in-law Larry.
