Who used to play guitar, strummed chords with Gord Lightfoot, and could be counted on during every monthly campus forum to ask Kingston Principal Don Anderson a question about the parking lot?

Sorry, no idea! My two connections with parking (aside from the obvious) was the summer when the Kingston library collection spent the summer in trailers in the parking lot while renos were done, and then shortly after that, when responsibility for the library was transferred to a manager who also was responsible for the parking lot. Coincidence?

As you will know from the email just sent to all members of the retiree association, two folks answered correctly so quickly that we didn't even have the website ready yet. Ian Wilson identified Paul McLaughlin and then early this morning Steve Graves also sent the correct name. Unfortunately, my close connection with Ian is likely to trigger a ME scandal, as also outlined in my email. I will post a comment about Paul separately - and encourage others to do so.

After thinking about Paul McLaughlin, I thought I would send along a couple of memories... I am sure Paul stories would fill a whole chapter of one of your books....

Paul apparently also jammed with Oscar Peterson during his musical days, but at St. Lawrence he was known as an accounting teacher with a very thorough approach and an emphasis on attention to detail. He is remembered as an unrepentant smoker back when this activity could be carried on in the classroom. Those who had a class following him (as I sometimes did) would often reach for a piece of chalk from the ledge along the blackboard only to encounter a cigarette butt and realize that Paul had been there! Another memory of Paul was the exotic vacation trips that he took most summers. He would invariably return sick with some bug or other, leaving Steve scrambling to arrange temporary supply teachers.
