The AGM was hosted once again by St. Lawrence College in the Empire Boardroom. We enjoyed a delightful social time before the meeting started, enjoying a beverage and good company.
These minutes were taken by Anne Breault, Secretary, St. Lawrence College Retirees Association. Item numbers refer to the accepted agenda.

#1. Welcome and Opening Remarks from President, John Anderson
John thanked everyone for attending this 2017 AGM. Reconnecting with former employees is the most important thing about this event. The College system is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year and retirees are invited to attend. Details will be discussed later in this meeting.
1a: Announcements: Fundraising Update Ian Wilson
Ian explained the Retiree Association Fundraising Campaign for the 50th Anniversary has been very successful. The goal was $50,000.00 and just under $100,000.00 has been raised by retirees. This will be used to support students. Retirees continue to support the College.
1b: Bill Kirby: A lot of extra work has been done this year by Dick Tindal. Dick has completed a booklet, Book of Memories. This is a fine accomplishment of collected stories and photos from the past 50 years. Copies will be distributed later today.

# 4. Treasurer’s Report and Membership – Clare Rayner
We currently have $3080.00 in our bank account - Financial Report Summary for 2016 is on file with the minutes.
The majority of the revenues raised each year are used to subsidize the cost of the various events that are held throughout the year and the donation to St. Lawrence College Foundation to benefit the student population. Those attending agreed to make a $300.00 donation this year again.

Membership for 2017: There are 76 annual members and 37 Life members for a total of 113 members. This is up from last year. It was a good year due to increased life membership payments.

# 5 Social Convenor’s Report - Dick Tindal
Our usual Spring Coffee gathering has taken place. Events to come this year are, 19th Hole in September, and a fall coffee gathering.
The Association is open to suggestions on activities to offer members.
Ruth Doran will be handing out the Book of Memories today following our meeting.
Rob Zubak – Alumni Department paid for the cost of printing the Book of Memories. If copies are mailed out by the Alumni office, to Association members, the cost will be $5.00 each.
On June 24th known as Alumni Day, “Essence” will be where the official Retiree Association Welcome Centre is located from 12 - 4pm. At Cataraqui Golf Club from 4 – 6pm a Mix and Mingle event will be held. Following is a dinner at the Golf Club. Advanced registration is required for both events held at the Golf Club.
The Association needs someone to volunteer to take photos during the day events on June 24th.
The College will mass mail our invitation to former employees. Dick asked those attending to share the June 24th information to any past employee known.
If any members have College memorabilia they wish to display, bring items along. There will be security and you can either take these things home at the end of the day or donate to college archives.
On Monday, October 3rd, a plaque will be placed at LCVI, to recognize the first place to have St Lawrence classes.
Former board members and staff are to be invited to this ceremony.
#6 Update on Activities for 50th Anniversary
Ontario Colleges has arranged a travel tour bus to visit each of the Colleges over the year with displays. An open time capsule will be on display. The visit to St. Lawrence, Kingston Campus is scheduled for November. Please contact the College if you have suggestions for items to be placed in the capsule.
Clare would like assistance in Essence on June 24th.
Kathy TeCamp from Brockville wishes to convene some events for Brockville retirees. We support her initiative.
# 7 Election of Executive Officers - John Anderson
All positions are open and members attending should consider playing a role.
John Anderson, President, is willing to stay on one more year.
Ruth Doran will be part of the shadow cabinet.
Nancy Sudak will become Vice-President
Dick Tindal, Social Convener, will be available until after the 50th Anniversary, then will cut back on responsibilities.
Clare Rayner, Membership and Treasurer, will stay 1 more year

# 8 DVD Highlights of Unveiling of Wall of Appreciation in May 1997 - Dick Tindal
A DVD of the Unveiling of the Wall of Appreciation ceremony 20 years ago, to honor retired College staff was shown.
# 9 Distribution of copies of Book of Memories - Dick Tindal
Ruth Doran will be handing out copies of the Book of Memories to members today.
Any spouse of a deceased Association member wishing a copy of this book will be given one. If you know anyone and can deliver the book please pick it up. They may also contact Dick and a copy can be provided.

The meeting was adjourned at 12:10pm.
